SR piping ENGINEER - Taknia Libya Engineering Company

• More than 15 years’ experience in conceptual studies, FEED, detailed design, construction management and commissioning, 12 years of which has been in the oil and gas industry within the oil and gas industry
• Sound technical knowledge based on both theoretical and practical knowledge
• Proven record of achievement. Satisfactory annual appraisal scores and comments from Engineering Manager.
• Strong spoken and written English
• Good presentation, communications and organisational skills.
• Experience in all stages of design of piping systems & plant layout for Oil & Gas projects.
• Knowledge of the related International codes and Standards etc. Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis and selection of pipe support etc.
• PC skills, including specific design software (e.g. AutoCAD, PDS, PDMS, CEASAR)

Role will include, but not be specific to:

• Taking part in the project planning and scheduling.
• Ensuring that the specialist design, for the part he is responsible for is in accordance with the contract provisions, the procedures and the project schedule.
• Checking the progress of the activities he is responsible for, suggesting suitable actions to prevent, absorb or minimize any deviations in terms of time and costs.
• Ensuring the preparation and check of the purchase requisitions and technical evaluations.
• Maintain awareness of project CTRs and activity hours. Highlight any potential project time overrun to the Project Manager. Work to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.
• Ensuring the controlled management of the documents within his area of responsibility, vendor’s documents inclusive.
• Giving assistance to the other project positions as far as specialist aspects are concerned.
• Defining the levels of inspection and testing at the vendor’s workshop and the site quality control.
• Giving assistance to the other project positions as far as specialist aspects are concerned (fabrication and site modifications and nonconformities, commissioning and start up).
• Supporting the PEM (Project Engineering Management) in the relationship with the client or the other external organizations within his area of responsibility.
• To ensure design packages meet the required safety, environmental and ergonomic standards.
• Manage and control all interfaces of the related discipline with other discipline and design product suppliers
• Lead the workload of a team of piping discipline engineers and designers, within the parameters of a project schedule.
• Establish a list of discipline deliverables. Control, monitor and progress these deliverables to an agreed schedule.
• Ensure recognized engineering practices applicable to piping design and topside/plant layout are adopted.
• Exercise guidance to staff in the preparation of piping materials and valve specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.
• Provide a consultative role to internal and external clients
• Produce innovative, high-level engineering work on conceptual, FEED and detailed design projects.
• Leadership – provide leadership, guidance and direction to project teams. Ensure the project team understands the technical details and key features of the project to enable the team to deliver work efficiently and to the highest technical standards.
• Mentoring and developing less experienced engineers from graduate level upwards.
• To create, check and approve project deliverables – as directed.
• Client interfacing – Liaise with clients on a technical level to ensure their needs are being met and ensuring they are aware of the data input requirements to allow projects to proceed on schedule.
• Provide technical input to bids and proposals.

• Quality – ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Company Quality Policy and procedures.

• Health, Safety & Environment –Work in accordance with training and instruction provided, reporting any shortfalls in control systems. Adhere to the requirements of the Company Health & Safety and Environmental Policies. Contribute to maintaining and enhancing quality management.
• Responsible for delivery of engineering scope, checking calculations and analyses.
• Supervise and co-ordinate engineers and draughtsmen as required.
• Proficient in checking of design reports and calculation sheets.
• Liaise with Clients on technical and project matters
• Report progress and project health to Management Team
• Support/supervise to bid preparation.
• Provide input to development of engineering methodologies and tools.
• Undertake research and development projects as may be required.
• Contribute to the Company Technical and presentations.
• Training/mentoring of Junior and Senior Engineers.
• Technically responsible for an area of work or project and supervises preparation of specific deliverables.
• Provides discipline input to regular Project reporting.
• Reviews/approves vendor documentation and comments to ensure design conformance.
• Ensure design compatibility and conformance with client specifications and requirements.
• Ensures compliance with the Company’s ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures
