Job summary
Support the GBV Specialist in the implementation of the GBV response and prevention activities in Libya.
Responsibilities &Tasks:
Under the guidance of the GBV Specialist:
1. Program Planning
Support the expatriate Specialist in designing program concept notes and proposals;
Assist for designing and conducting GBV assessments to identify protection risks, points of services for survivors of GBV, and vulnerable individuals, and identify points of entry and support structures for reinforcement;
Support the analysis of trends of GBV and develop/adjust program strategies to meet needs;
2. Supporting program implementation and capacity development
Support the GBV Specialist in developing appropriate IEC material and organizing effective GBV awareness sessions and strategies.
Support in building capacity of relevant staff to offer appropriate referral and support to GBV survivors, including health staff Trainings include: guiding principles of addressing GBV, community mobilization toward prevention of GBV, GBV basic concepts and guiding principles, and any other areas
Compile regular program reports and data;
Establish and/or maintain community-based activities for women in all determined project
3. Coordination
Attend and represent IMC in the relevant coordination meetings, according to the GBV Specialist indications
Develop and strengthen GBV referral systems;
Support the development of protocols for information collection and sharing;
Coordinate with religious leaders and women's associations to strengthen support and information networks;
The applicant must have the following qualification:
Educational background in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Social Work/Psychology, or any other related fields;
Understanding of emergency response and two years of relevant professional experience, including experience in gender mainstreaming, GBV in Emergencies, Women’s Empowerment or protection programming;
Fluency in BOTH Arabic AND English is To perform this job the candidate must be able to read, write, and speak English and Arabic.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access);
Proven experience in developing and delivering training and of group facilitation;
Excellent qualitative and quantitative reporting skills;
Ability to exercise sound judgment;
Extremely strong communication skills, with good understanding of relevant cross-cultural and sensitive issues;
Commitment to promote women and girls’ rights and stop GBV
Demonstrated sensitivity to protection, GBV issues, including application of the principle of confidentiality;
Strict adherence to humanitarian and Protection and GBV Guiding principles and standards, as well as organizational policies including Code of Conduct and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA);
Strong problem-solving and innovation to address gaps and challenges;
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce timely and high quality of work;
Demonstrated high level of flexibility, responsiveness, and reliability;
Ability to work under pressure and strong time management skills to meet both short-term and long-term objectives;
Desired skills:
Previous experience in information management
Familiarity with GBVIMS and/or Primero
Former work experience with an international NGO or a UN Agency
Familiarity with the requirements of the donors like UNHCR, EU, and OFDA
