Introduction
International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, non-political, non-sectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility for rapid response to emergencies. International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/SCOPE OF WORK
Tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
1- Provide regular patient education and health awareness raising activities at the primary health care center,
through well-organized one to one or group health awareness sessions.
2- Prepare health awareness material needed for raising health awareness in the field, these materials include
leaflets, health posters and visual aids like power point presentations on common health awareness topics.
3- Reach out to the community at the catchment area of the primary health care center where the CHW is based,
to provide health awareness session, through field visits to places like schools, mosques, markets, social
centers and homes.
4- Help the medical team with medical campaigns, especially when outreach the community is required, ex:
vaccination campaigns.
5- Collaborate with the Ministry of health’s focal point on implementation of CHW strategies, through
orientation of interested staff at the primary health care center, who are aiming to become community health
workers.
6- Regular reporting of CHW activities to the medical coordinator or M&E department as directed.
7- Attend mandatory trainings when required.
8- Follow up IMC security protocols and all other IMC code of conduct requirements
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Relevant experience on health, or proven knowledge on basic public health topics. Ability to maintain effective work relationships with community
and municipal representatives. Reporting Skills. Able to speak in Arabic as well as
English (other languages desirable)
Passion for community wellbeing
Has previous volunteering experience. Demonstrates a high degree of self-motivation. Has a good network in targeted community. Has good communication skills and the capacity to facilitate presentations, meetings, and discussions
concerning health and social issues. Able to provide assistance to all individuals and nationalities when needed. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Able to provide feedback/reports regarding work-related activities. Capacity to work as member of a team
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Arabic as a native language, Fluency in English is desirable.OTHER COMMENTS:
