Job Description
The WASH Officer is responsible for supporting the WASH Deputy Program Manager in designing, coordinating and implementing all WASH activities within the program
Objective 1: Plan and supervise fieldwork and activities
- Plan and supervise WASH technical assessments and engage with the community to create an essential understanding of perceptions, needs, coping mechanisms, capacities, existing norms, leadership structures and priorities.
- Support the WASH Deputy Program Manager in planning, updating, revising weekly and monthly workplans of WASH team in line with the funded program, logical framework and timeframe
- Coordinate and supervise the work of community workers and develop contacts and explain the activities and the objectives of the programs to community;
- Community sensitization / mobilization to ensure the smooth implementation of project;
- Ensure the quality of implementation according to (national and AAH) standards;
- Ensure the proper usage of work monitoring templates during the implementations;
- Ensure the advancement of the work according to the planned schedule and ensure the respect of the deadlines
- Support the WASH Deputy Program Manager in represent AAH with communities and stakeholders
Objective 2: Supervise the WASH team
- Participate in the recruitment process of new team members
- Report training needs of the team to the WASH Deputy Program Manager, translate/develop/deliver training material and assist in the facilitation of training sessions
- Conduct with HR annual appraisals of the WASH team
- Managing planning, work-sharing and coordination of work
Objective 3: Ensure monitoring, evaluation and reporting of WASH activities
- Support the WASH Deputy Program Manager in monitoring and evaluating activities (including assessment, hygiene promotion and distribution)
- Ensure that quality and accurate reports and supporting documentation on program activities are submitted timely and on a daily basis to the WASH Deputy Program Manager
- Supervise WASH team members in data collection and reporting and ensure adequate consolidation
- Involve and inform the communities in the implementation of the program;
- Inform the hierarchy about the progress or challenges of planned/ongoing activities;
Job Requirements
Qualifications Degree
- Bachelor degree in Civil or construction Engineer, or professional experience in WASH construction or WASH Engineer
Professional Experience
- At least 2 years of work experience in a relevant WASH position with an NGO.
General Skills
- Good organisational ability
- Good knowledge of the intervention area
- Flexibility
Specialized/Technical Skills
- Work experience of network development / rehabilitations / hygiene promotion
Managerial Skills
- Able to adopt an organized and methodological approach
- Ability to work to deadlines and within budgets
- Capacity for team work and supervision, team spirit and autonomy
Language Skills
- Fluent Arabic (both oral and written)
- English is an asset (both oral and written)
IT Skills

- Working knowledge of Office package
