Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, deploy, and improve wireless networks from beginning to implementation by working alongside resellers, managers, and network engineers.
- Solve escalated tickets from the tech support team.
- Perform troubleshooting duties, monitor updates, and solve any problems that arise.
- Perform point to point link alignment and use LinkPlanner to correctly model ‘what if’ scenarios according to geography, distance, antenna height, transmit power, and other factors.
- Monitor the network, wireless links, and antennas.
- Commence any necessary updates relating to sector firmware.
- Take responsibility to develop new tools and look for ways to improve Giga Ltd. through independent research.
- Ensure that any gaps in your/your colleagues’ knowledge is covered through appropriate training.
- Maintain a trail of documentation relating to towers and their owners as well as for any other work issues regarding daily tasks.
- Perform sector installations and monitor their ability to increase or widen the coverage area, and thus the number of served clients.
- Possess organisational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate concisely and effectively with other engineers and non-technical colleagues.
- Provide customer support when necessary and solve queries.
- Adjust frequencies, work on improving leased lines, install microwaves, and fix antennas/accounts after preliminary diagnosis.
- Complete admin duties when necessary through communicating with the appropriate personnel whilst demonstrating professionalism and respect.
- Arrange for new site and tower contracts to be signed.
- Organise and attend meetings relating to the planning and building of new towers in different cities.
- Show flexibility within the company’s full scope of work as the nature of tasks may vary and the company may request assistance from time to time with other tasks outside the nominal job description.
