Non-Technical Survey ( Explosive Ordnance Risk Education) Operator - DRC Libya


About the job: 

The overall role of the NTS/EORE Operator is to conduct survey activities assessing the location and impact of Explosive Ordnances, including unexploded ordnance (UXO) and landmines as well as to provide Explosive Ordnance (EORE) awareness sessions

 

Geographic scope: Base (Tripoli):
This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base level. The role contributes to the development of base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

The NTS/EORE Operator responsibilities are listed below, and may be revised as necessary:
•    Gathering geographic information about mine affected communities, threats from mines and ERW, technical information, socio-economic conditions, follow up activities and impact of DDG activities on the communities, including information concerning mine and ERW accidents
•    Establishing a wide information network including authorities, communities, NGOs, and other possible sources of information
•    Support team leader to conduct liaison with local representatives at different levels, in assigned areas of responsibility
•    Assessing needs at village and community levels, and in order to support Team Leader in establishing priorities in cooperation with all stake holders at the local level.
•    Analyzing gathered data, and where necessary dissemination of information.
•    Ensuring that the NTS/EORE Team Leader is fully briefed on all issues during Non-Technical Survey.
•    Cooperating and coordinating closely with all humanitarian mine action activities.
•    Ensuring that all information collected is accurately recorded in standard formats.
•    Participate in Community Liaison
•    Conduct Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) presentations in area of responsibility
•    Participate in the elaboration of EORE IEC materials and EORE public information campaigns
•    Collect information in targeted communities through direct interviews or focus group discussions
•    Responsible for own and other team members safety
•    On daily basis develop IMSMA reporting forms and to submit to Team Leader for verification
•    Any other duties as directed by the Team Leader
The NTS/EORE Operator reports to his/her manager. When required, he/she must report in writing.

 

About you: 

•    Vocational school. Higher education – is an asset.
•    First Aid course
•    Proven ability to obey obstructions
•    Knowledge of English language required
•    Knowledge of non-technical survey and Mine action standards is an asset
•    Experience in data collection
•    Knowledge of Mines and UXO encountered in Libya, basic understanding of military operations is an asset
•    Knowledge of topography and map drawing, basic handling of compass, GPS and basic digital camera
•    Social communication skills and diplomatic personality
•    Excellent communication interpersonal skills
•    Computer literate, MS Office and Base Camp Garmin
•    Driving license

We offer: 

Type of Contract: National Contract
Contract length: 9 months
Designation of Duty Station: Tripoli, Libya
Start date: 11 April, 2021
