Community Based Protection

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organisation. DRC fulfils its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

The DRC Community Based Protection (CBP) team is looking for active community members dedicated to having positive impact and change in their community, as Community Protection Volunteers (CPVs).

Main Requirements:

• Minimum level of literacy and knowledge of either Arabic/English languages, additional language e.g French, Hausa, Tigrinya is an asset
• Committed and interested in helping and connecting their community to DRC services.
• Committed to maintaining confidentiality.
• Respectful of others, regardless of their differences.
• Willing to learn new approaches to rights enhancement, community engagement, and protection.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support Protection teams by actively highlighting contextual changes.
• Support in community engagement and trust-building by playing an active role to liaise with communities.
• Support in identification of information and other needs.
• Practicing safe referral to refer individuals in need for individual assistance.
• Attend regular capacity building trainings held by CBP staff.
• Support in translation between DRC staff and members of the community, as relevant.

Contract: 6 months, potential for renewal based on funding and individual performance.

Incentive: 500 LYD monthly; 450 incentive, 50 phone credit. No other reimbursements or payments will be made.

Working Hours: 10 Hours /week

Line manager: CBP staff focal point, CBP Team Leader
